Twitter co-founder and Instagram investor Jack Dorsey was particularly upset when Facebook announced plans to acquire Instagram for approximately $1 billion in cash and stock. Sure, he’s one of a handful of people that made a killing off the acquisition, but he also attempted (and failed) to secure the purchase of the mobile app in the months before the Facebook acquisition, according to sources familiar with the deal.
Maybe Facebook just made a better offer, was simply a better fit, or maybe it was because Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg once offered him a job, but either way Instagram co-founder and CEO Kevin Systrom chose Facebook over Twitter.
