At least eight people died and 33 people were hurt when a bus accidentally hit two private vehicles in Isabela province before dawn Wednesday.
Chief Superintendent Roberto Damian, Cagayan Valley regional police director, said that authorities now have in their custody the driver of the Dagupan bus that hit two vehicles along the national highway in the village of Tagaran, Cauayan City, at around 3:30 a.m.

Initial investigation revealed that the bus accidentally swerved into the opposite lane, hit a Toyota Hi-Lux driven by Perlito Bautista, before falling into a ravine where the bus turned onto its side, Damian said.

At least 33 people were hurt and were rushed to various hospitals, including the Cauayan Specialist Hospital, the Cauayan District Hospital, and the Garcias General Hospital.
