According to multiple reports, Jayson Werth signed a seven-year, $126 million deal with the Nationals.

This is surprising, although the Nationals did need to replace Adam Dunn, who signed a four-year last week with the White Sox.  I wonder how Werth’s numbers will be affected by playing in a bigger ballpark and much less protection in his new lineup.

A seven-year deal for Werth is very good news for Carl Crawford, who, to me, is a much more dynamic player.

Werth hit .296 with 27 home runs and 85 RBI with a .388 on base percentage in 156 games for the Phillies in 2010.
