The collective enthusiasm Wales has shown in hosting the Ryder Cup has renewed hope the country may still take an active part in the Team GB football team at the London Olympics.
Ever since London was awarded the 2012 Games, there has been major resistance from the other home unions to combine with England for a Great Britain football team for fear of losing their international football independence.

But the British Olympic Association, who have appointed the English FA to administer the GB team and select a manager, have been encouraged by more positive vibes that England won’t have to go it alone in the football tournament.
The final decision won’t be made until after the 2018 World Cup bid is decided on December 2. But the FA, having been resigned to an England-only team at the Olympics, are now committed to exploring all opportunities until the deadline for a more inclusive Team GB side.
